A Scary Trip to the Hospital
On Monday night I started feeling tightenings in my lower abdomen and called the hospital to find out what to do, They advised me to come in early before work to get checked out. Dan and I went in around 1030 PM. They hooked me up to the monitors and told me I was having contractions. I was so terrified and so was Dan but he was so supportive, The contractions were very close together but the good news was my cervix was not changing. They gave me fluids and sent me home to take it easy. They had no idea what caused the contractions. This was one of the scariest nights ever.

Our Surprise
We had all the family over for our big surprise. Everyone thought the surprise was finding out the sex of the baby but what they didn't know is that the person opening the envelope was Travis(my brother who flew in from Iraq hours before the party). Everyone was so surprised especially my mom, she cried tears of joy. Travis opened the envelope and after describing the picture to him announced that we are having a BOY. We had a great day spending time with the whole family.

The Big Appointment
Today was a very important and stressful day, I didn't post earlier about the problem found in the previous ultrasound. At our 19 week ultrasound they found a cyst or something on the baby's lower pelvis and something that is called echogenic bowel. Basically that means the bowel shows up brighter on ultrasound. There are many possible things that this could mean. It could be normal which we are praying for, it also could be that the baby swallowed blood, also it could be infection and it also is a soft marker for down Syndrome. So we had to wait 10 days to see the perinatalogists. Today we had the big appointment we had a high level ultrasound which was very cool, we could see everything. They are not quite sure what the cyst is yet but are going to keep watching it throughout the pregnancy, good news is the Dr. said that it is not near any major organs and is not life threatening. We had to see a genetic counselor to talk about the echogenic bowel. They offered us an Amnio but we declined. This was a very scary appointment but I had two of the biggest supporters my husband and my mommy. I am now a high risk pregnancy and will be followed very carefully. Please keep us is your thoughts and prayers.

Build A Bear
We went to Build a bear today and made bears for the baby and for each grandparent. Inside each bear is the baby's heartbeat. This is very special to us, we can hear the baby's heart whenever we want to and we can share it with everyone. we had a lot of fun making all the bears and picking out the outfits.

It feels like a little alien inside you
Dan felt the baby move for the first time last night. I got home from a busy weekend and when went upstairs to go to sleep the baby was moving like crazy. Dan put his hand on my tummy and felt the baby right away. I swear the baby was doing flips or something. I was very excited that Dan could now share the coolest feeling in the world with me. I wouldn't let anyone try to feel for the baby because I wanted him to be the first to feel. He was also very excited, it was dark in the room but I just know he had the biggest smile on his face. He said it felt like an alien inside me. (who knows how he knows what an alien feels like). haha.

Baby Nicholas is here and I helped deliver him
For those who don't know I finished RN school and am now working at Tacoma General in the Birth center. I absolutely love it. well my friend Becky who I have known since we were 3 years old and grew up right next to each other had her first baby today. She went into labor Wednesday night and I though for sure she would have delivered by the time I got to work on Thursday but little Nicholas was waiting for his aunt Sarah. When I got to work Nicholas was still inside. Shortly after I got to work Nicholas was born and I got to be one of Becky's nurses. This was truly honorable and I am so happy I was apart of this. OF course i cried my eyes out when he was born. This is a day I will never forget. Becky did an awesome job and both her and Nicolas are doing great.

Week 17
This has been a crazy week. Connie flew in on Sunday to help with Dan's surgery. We had an OB appointment on Monday which was alot of fun. Connie came with us and we got to have another ultrasound. We could not believe how big the baby has grown. It was moving all over the place and right away started to suck it's thumb(just like it's mommy). we also got to listen to the heartbeat, It is to early to see the sex so we will have to wait for out next ultrasound on the 17th of April. Dan thinks it is a boy, my mom wants it to be a girl. I have no idea. I have had a dream about a boy and a girl and we know there is only one baby so we will just have to see.Good news from the appointment is everything looks great and I have still only gained 4 pounds Dr. Says more cold stone for me and baby. Dan had his wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday(April Fools day), I know he is crazy. The surgery went well but he will have to be on jaw precautions which means only soft liquids for 6-8 weeks. That sucks but we don't want his jaw to break. Well we are coming up with some pretty good inventions and our blender is being used more that it has in years. Thanks Connie for all your help. We love you.
