Riley's first real bath

Since Riley's cord finally fell off he got to have a real bath. His bath tub is really nice. He has a jet tub and it also has a little shower sprayer. He really liked soaking in his Jacuzzi tub, I was jealous I wish I had a bath tub that would do that.

The cord finally fell off

Riley's umbilical cord finally fell off. He will be a month old tomorrow and I can't believe it took this long to fall off. I am so happy it finally came off and I am sure Riley is happy to because he hated when I had to clean it. I think he will have an inny button but I think it is to soon to tell.

9 lbs I can't believe it

I had to take Riley to the doctors today because he bad something wrong with his eye. Turns out to be a clogged tear duct, which I guess is very common, well when they weighed him I could not believe my eyes. He is now 9 lbs. He is growing so fast I can't believe it. Everyone that sees him says "he is so tiny". it is funny because to me he is so big now, but I guess he still is pretty tiny. I can't believe people have babies this big when they are born , I think I would die.

Weekend with Oma

My mom came up on Thursday and stayed till Sunday, It was so nice to have her here, We had a lot of fun watching movies, getting our hair done and spending time with Riley, Mom also made us yummy food while she was here and helped out around the house. I love having her here and spending time with her and so does Riley, Riley loves his Oma soooooooooooooooo much. Thanks mom, We love you.

Riley's Pictures.

We took Riley to get his first professional pictures done and our first family pictures. The picture people did such a good job. All the pictures turned out great and Riley stayed awake for the whole time. My mom came with us to help with Riley and the outfit changes, she was a huge help. Thanks mom.

Riley's new Toy

Riley loves his new toy.

Riley got a new toy in the mail today from my parents friends today. I put it together and put Riley under it in his playpen. I couldn't believe how alert he was and how much he liked it. It plays music and lights up. He just stared at it and he was even moving his arms and hitting the toys.

Welcome home Travis

Travis finally got to come home from Washington DC. We went to the airport to surprise him. Mom made a huge welcome home sign and we waited at the stairway for him. We are all so happy he is home.

Visit to the Urologist

I had to take Riley to the Urologist today to talk about his kidneys and bladder. Well he only has one kidney. The left kidney did not grow at all, but good news is the right kidney compensated and grew a little bigger than normal. He also has something wrong with the structure of his bladder, they are not sure what is exactly wrong yet but he has some kind of cystic structure. We have to go for more test to find out more. The urologist says Riley is a healthy little boy and is not to worried, he even commented how perfect his circumcision was. lol.... well we just have to keep a close eye on Riley and he will be ok. we will keep you updated on the outcome of our next test.

Do the Puyallup. First night away from baby

Tonight we went to the fair, My mom came up and stayed with Riley. It was my first time away from him for more than an hour. I missed him so much but had a lot of fun. We went to the Puyallup fair with our friends Matt and Danielle and their son Devin. We went on rides, ate a lot of yummy food and looked around at animals and stuff. I was so happy to get home to Riley because I missed him so much. Him and oma had a good time though and so did Dan and I.

Go Bears

Here is a picture of Riley's first Bears shirt we got from Dan's cousin in Chicago. It is a little big but we had to put it on him. Dan is a huge Bears fan so that means that Riley is to. He looks so cute in it.

Riley loves his mommy, and mommy loves him

Riley loves to cuddle with me and I love it just as much. Since Dan is back to work we hang out all day, I love to hold him and just watch him sleep. It is so fun to watch all the faces he makes. We also cuddle up on the couch and sleep together. He is staring to be more alert in the day so I love to talk to him and he just stares at me.

Me and my doggies

The dogs are doing so good with Riley. They love to be around him all the time and always follow him where ever he goes. They also come running if he cries. Duke loves giving him kisses and Riley makes funny faces so I don't know if he likes the kisses as much. They are going to be best buds as Riley grows. I am so happy they love him so much.

I love my papa Jack

Today Riley hung out with his papa Jack. They watched football together and had some male bonding, although I don't know if Riley liked football to much because he cried.

My Due Date

Today is my due date and I can't even imagine being pregnant still. I would be so huge and uncomfortable. Although I sometimes miss being pregnant I am so happy my little boy is here. I know you probably think I am crazy for missing pregnancy, especially mine being so complicated but I actually loved being pregnant minus the complications. I loved feeling him move inside me and miss that feeling. What I don't miss is my diet and checking my blood sugar all the time. Now that I have had Riley my diabetes is gone and I can eat what ever I want. =))))) I still need to be cautious because I have an increased risk of getting diabetes. I can't believe Riley is 2 and a half weeks old already. He is growing so fast and I am having so much fun. I absolutely love being a mom and Dan and I are so in love and happy with our new family. Dan is very happy my pregnancy is over, I don't think he loved it as much as I did. Thank you honey for putting up with me, taking care of me and supporting me , I love you and could not have done it without you by my side.

2 week Well child check and class

Today Riley had his two week well child check. Before the exam they have a class that a group of parents and their babies go to. The class is taught by the doctor and goes over what to expect with your baby. Dan and I had a good time and learned a lot. I am so excited we found such a great pediatrician. Dan and I can't wait for the next class. Riley is doing good. The Doctor says he is a healthy baby and is doing great. Riley is now 7 lbs 15oz and 20in. That is one whole pound more from when he was born. I can't believe how fast he is growing. The ultrasound results came back and looks like Riley's right kidney is perfect but the left is not, and there is something wrong with his bladder. We are being sent to see a pediatric urologist to find out more. We will let you know more when we find out.

one fell off and one still on

So Riley has two things on him that we are waiting to fall off. The first thing is his belly button cord and the other is the plastic bell from his circumcision, well the second one fell off today and all is looking well. We are still waiting for his umbilical cord to fall off, it is taking forever and Riley hates it when you clean it. Hopefully it will fall off soon,

2 weeks old

I can't believe it my little boy is growing so fast. It feels like I just had him yesterday but it really has been 2 weeks. We are having so much fun with our little boy. He is such a good baby. Dan has gone back to work and Riley and I miss him so much when he is gone. He is still sleeping a lot but when he is awake he is so alert and loves to look around and loves it when you talk to him.

Dinners Ready By Mom

My mom came up this weekend to stay and help with the baby and things around the house. She helped me go shopping and then when we got back to the house she made us dinners to freeze. She made us her famous spaghetti sauce which we love and some meat loaf. Dan and I both love moms cooking and are so grateful to have her yummy meals. Thank you so much mom, You are the best. We love you.

Riley loves his swing

Riley loves his new swing that we got him. It is very cool. It swings in 2 different directions, has 6 different songs and has a mirror mobile that moves around. The seat is like a papason and looks so comfy. Dan and I said we wish they made a swing big enough for us. lol. here is a picture of Riley relaxing in his swing.

A rough day at the Doctors

Today Riley had his circumcision. My mom came with me for support and I was so glad she was there. Riley was so upset when they got him undressed and strapped him to the board. They used a numbing medication which helped, so I think he didn't feel much pain throughout the procedure. Both my mom and I held his hand and he held our fingers so tight. It was sad for me to watch but I wanted to be there for him and I talked to him the whole time so he knew I was with him. He did very well during the procedure and didn't cry very much at all. He has been doing well since the procedure. He has been sleeping almost all day and not fussy at all. He is such a good baby, even after a procedure like he had. getting big already

So when we went to the doctors appointment today they weighed Riley and I could not believe it. When he was born he was 6 lbs 15 oz and drooped to 6 lbs 10 oz when we left the hospital. They say that babies should get back to their birth weight within 2 weeks. well Riley is 11 days old and he weights 7lbs 6 oz. He is getting so big. he now is fitting into most of the newborn clothes and no longer needs the preemie clothes or diapers. wow I can't believe it.

Visiting Grandpa and Grandma Golbeck and Riley's first diner out.

We went to visit Grandpa and grandma Golbeck today. They had so much fun holding Riley, They got him a pair of bib overalls so he can match his grandpa. They are so cute and I can't wait until he is big enough to wear them. Dad and Diane took us out to diner for mexican and it was so good. It was Riley's first adventure out and he slept the whole time. Thank you Dad and Diane we had a great time.

Riley's Ultrasound.

Riley had an ultrasound appointment today to look at his kidneys and bladder. The worst part about the whole thing is that he had to be NPO for 4 hours, meaning I could not feed him 4 hours prior to his appointment. This was not good because he usually eats every 2-3 hours. By the time he had his ultrasound it had been 5 hours and I finally got to feed him. Poor baby boy. We felt so sorry for him but we know this is important and he needs the test done. We should have the results in a couple days and will keep you informed.

Friends and Dinner

Our good friends Matt and Danielle came over tonight and brought dinner and desert. We had a good time hanging out and Matt and Danielle had fun bonding with Riley, They are having a baby boy in October and we can't wait for Jayden to be born. Dinner and desert were so good. Thank you so much Matt and Danielle, you are such great friends and we are so lucky to have you.

The Dogs love the baby

Daisy and Duke love Riley and are adapting well with all the new changes. Duke is very curious and follows the baby where ever he goes. They both like to be very close to him and sit by who ever is holding him. Daisy gets jealous a little and wants attention so we have been trying to give her extra love. We are so happy that they have adapted well to their new baby brother.

Auntie Rachel is the best

Rachel came over today to see baby Riley before she leaves. She also made us a really yummy lunch. Riley loves his aunt Rachel and he had a good time cuddling. Thank you Rachel for the good lunch and for spending time with us, we love you and will miss you.

1 week old

Riley is one week old today and I can't believe it. The week has gone by so fast. He is such a good baby, I couldn't ask for anything different. He is nursing great and we are getting a lot of sleep which is amazing. When he is not eating or sleeping he is so alert and happy. He loves to look around at everything and hear his mommy and daddy talk to him. We are loving every minute of each day. Dan and I are so in love. We both want to hold him all the time. We have had some family and friends come over during the last week which has been very nice. Dan is very sad because he has to go back to work tomorrow. Riley and I are going to miss him very much.

Riley's First bath

Today we gave Riley his first bath. His cord is still on so we had to give him a sponge bath which means he could not get in the water all the way. He did not seem to like his bath very much. He cried most of the time. I think he was cold because when he did have water on him he was calm but was pretty upset the rest if the time. After he was all dried off I put lotion on him which he seemed to like. He really liked when I combed his hair. Now he is all clean and smells yummy. not like he was very dirty in the first place but now he is very clean. I hope he likes his next bath a little more. Aunt Rachel and daddy were there to help with the bath and Dan kept telling Riley "be mad at mommy, this was her idea". We all had a lot of fun. well I don't know if Riley did.
