My poor baby Daisy
The same night I came in to the hospital Daisy was acting a little strange. Before we left I was petting her and noticed that she had a large bump on her ear. I could tell it was not normal and that it was painful to the touch. I was really worried but it was 3:30 in the morning and I was having contractions so we put her in her crate and went to the hospital. After I was stable my mom and sister came to the hospital and I sent Dan home to take care of Daisy. I was so worried about her. Dan took her to the vet and found out she had a really bad infection in both her ears and the one ear that was swollen had a hematoma. They had to drain her ear, give her shots and was sent home with antibiotic ear drops. So now Dan has to give her drops twice a day which Daisy hates. Dan says he hates being the bad guy but it has to be done. If she doesn't get better they will have to do surgery. Dan said he brought Duke to the vet with him and he was so worried about Daisy he cried when they took her away and they ran up and kissed her when they brought her back to the room. I miss both of my babies very much and can't wait to get home to them.
They came back and I got a ticket to the hospital
So we got home around 10pm last night and I watched a little TV and then went to bed. I kept waking up with contractions but around 3 am they got a lot stronger and were closer together. Not to get to personal but I also was having a little bleeding so I got a little scarred, I called the birth center and they told me to come in and be checked again. So I woke Dan up out of a dead sleep and told him we had to go back to the Hospital. We got to the hospital around 4 am and I was hooked up to the monitors again. I was contracting about every 2 to 4 minutes and they were starting to hurt. They checked my cervix again and I was now dilated to 1cm. Since my cervix had changed and I am preterm I got a first class ticket to the birth center and was admitted to a room. Because the baby is preterm I was given 2 doses of steroids 12 hours apart. The steroids are a big shot that is very painful, I did not like it at all but I know I had to do it. The steroids help the babies lungs develop. I also got more shots of medication to stop the contractions. I got an IV and was started on antibiotics. After a few hours things started to slow down and I was moved to the perinatal floor for observation.

Contractions,,,,,,,,,,,,,, What the heck
I was at work last night and started having contractions. They were not very painful so I came home this morning and went to bed. When I woke up this afternoon I started having more contractions and they were getting stronger and closer together. I took a bath and drank lots of fluids and they still didn't go away so I went to the birth center to be checked out. I was having contractions about every 3 minutes apart. They gave me a medication to stop the contractions and checked my cervix. I was not dilating thank god but my cervix was starting to thin so I got an ultrasound. I know I have had more ultrasounds than anyone ever, well that is how I feel. The ultrasound confirmed that my cervix was about 50% effaced. My contractions slowed down after 2 shots of the medication so I got sent home and was told to take it easy and to monitor and come back if the contractions came back, So that is what I did, I came home and went to bed.

Baby Shower
My old job through a baby shower for me and Garcia. Garcia is a nurse practiciner that works at auburn urgent care that got pregnant right before me. We had told each other months before that we were going to get pregnant together and we did. She is due in a couple of weeks and is also having a boy. All the girls from urgent care were there and he room was decorated so cute. We all had a lot of fun and it was so good to see them. I really miss all of them very much. I got so many wonderful gifts and had fun playing the guess how big the belly is game. This is the game when people have to guess how big your belly is by looking at you and then use a string to estimate. We played a little different. Garcia and I stood back to back and everyone had to guess how big the two bellies were together. We had a lot of fun, some people were nice but others strings went around us 3 times. I want to thank everyone for the nice gifts and for always being so thoughtful and caring throughout my pregnancy. I miss and love all of you.

A sleep over with Quinny.
Today I went to watch my little niece in her musical. She was so cute and did a great job, I was very proud of her. After her play she came over and had a sleep over. Dan and I took her to see the new Batman movie. she had a lot of fun and only got scarred once so I had to help her cover her eyes. She had a lot of fun looking at my belly and felling Riley move. It was very funny when she saw my belly and said "auntie Sarah what happened to your belly button". The reason she asked this is because it is completely gone and almost to the point of sticking out. It was very cute and made me laugh. The next day Quinn and I went to the mall and Quinn got to go shopping for her birthday present. We both had a great time and it was so nice to have her over for the night. I love her so much and always have a great time with her. I can't wait for Riley to meet her, I know he will love her as much as I do.
My Husband Is so sweet
Dan came home from work today and brought me flowers and a very sweet card. on the envelope it said "to my baby who is having my other baby". He got this for me just because he loves me. This really lifted my spirits and made me very happy. I love Dan so much and he is honestly the greatest husband in the world and I don't know where I would be without him. I am the luckiest women in the world to have Dan as my husband.

OH NO I am Diabetic
I got my results from my glucose test and I have to say I don't like the results. The sugar levels came back high so I am no considered Gestational diabetic. I had to see a nurse who specializes in diabetes and a dietitian. I have to check my blood sugars 4 times a day and be on a strict diet. No more coldstone or any sweets which is going to be very hard for me. I know this will be a difficult challenge but I know what I have to do for the health of myself and baby Riley. Wish me all luck that I Can control my diabetes with diet and not need to go on medication.

I can't believe they let me on the plane
I just got back from washington D.C. I know you all think I am crazy to get on a plane at 32 weeks pregnant, but I really wanted to see my brother. Travis got sent to Germany from Iraq and then was sent to Walter Reid Hospital in D.C. Thanks to my friend Amanda who works at Alaska gave me one of her buddy passes and my doctor wrote me a note to fly. I have had no problems up to now since 20 weeks so I figured I would be ok. It was so nice to see Travis. He is now on dialysis and we are praying that his kidneys will get better. While I was there Travis got to leave the Hospital so me,mom, and marie took Travis to Arlington Cemetary. It was so hot out but don't worry I kept fluids in me all the time. It was a very good trip and I am so glad I got to see Travis, we are hoping he will be home soon and that he will have a speedy recovery. please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The worse test
I had to do a 3hr glucose tolerance test today to make sure that I don't have gestational diabetes. I had to fast after ten pm, then be at the lab at 9 am the next morning, they drew my blood fasting and then I had to drink the magic orange drink. It is a drink pretty much full of sugar. Then they drew my blood on the hour for the next three hours. The test made me feel sick, the only nice thing was my best friend Rachel was there with me. She was a great support and I am so glad she was there. Thanks Rachel I love you. Now I have to wait for the results. hopefully it will be good news.

Scarry news about Travis
So I got a scary call from my mom. The call was to tell me that my brother Travis was being medivacked from Iraq because he was in complete kidney failure. This was the worst call and scarred me very much, There was so many unanswered questions. all we knew was that he was very sick and was being sent to Germany. I went down to mom and dad's and we were all supporting each other and waiting for phone calls and updates. Please keep Travis in your thoughts and prayers, I will keep you all updated.

30 down-------10 to go.
Today is the 4th of July and I am 30weeks pregnant. I can't believe it. The last 10 weeks have flown by it seems. I hope the next 10 weeks go just as fast. I am feeling pretty good. I am getting very big, well that is my tummy. I have a little back pain and my pelvic bone hurts all the time. People say that is a good sign because it means my pelvis is moving and spreading. WHATEVER, I just know it hurts. Riley moves all the time but now that he is getting bigger so are his moves, and kicks. it is very fun to watch my tummy move, it is kinda a freak show at times, but I love it. The Nursery is all done and ready for Riley, I have washed all his clothes and other baby things. I guess I am starting to nest. Well we are very excited. I am still working and plan to up until I deliver ( thank god I am in the right place). I worked last night and I work tonight so we will not be doing anything for the 4th, which is the first time ever. Usually we are always doing something. We did take the dogs to the park and had a BBQ at home. Dan will stay home with the dogs, hopefully they won't be afraid of the fireworks and I will be off to work. Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th.

4D Pictures of our little boy.
Today we had our 4D ultrasound. Dan and I had most our family with us. Dad and Mom, Mom and Glen, Leslie, Austin and Liam were all there. We were all together in a big room with a big screen TV so everyone could watch. This was one of the coolest experiences I have ever done. You could see our little boy. He has chubby little checks, you could even see a dimple when he smiled. he was very active and he loves his hands and feet in his face, I think at one time he had all four limbs in his face. He was sucking his thumb and at one point even sucking his foot. He is so cute and we can't wait to meet him. After the ultrasound we all went out to dinner and Glen treated everyone, Thank you Glen..... We were so happy to have our family with us to share this special event. Thank you all for coming..... We posted a few pictures so we can share our cute little boy with the rest of you. hope you enjoy him as much as we do. I stare at his picture everyday and I have already watched the DVD about 3 times.

Update on Baby Riley
So I had my 4 week follow up ultrasound today to see how Riley is growing and how the cyst is doing. I decided it would be ok for me to go by myself this time. Dan had a meeting in southcenter and I told mom she didn't have to miss work. The last ultrasound went well so I figured everything would be ok. Well that was a bad idea. Everything is fine I will explain in a minute, but the ultrasound techs freaked me out and I was in tears by the end. Well they kept asking me weird questions and were talking really quiet and had a concerning look on their faces. She even had to get another tech to come look, then they said we need the doctor now and then left the room. I was so scarred and didn't know what was wrong with my baby. Finally Dr. Dashow came to the rescue and explained everything to me. Dr. Dashow is the perinataolgist and is a very good and nice doctor. He explained to me that the septum in the bladder was still there and so was the cyst but it was so small that he could not even show me with his fingers. He said the echogenic bowel is still there but most likely is caused from the baby swallowing blood. The new concern was that Riley's left Kidney is not growing. They can see it but it is very small. His right kidney is the right size and working perfectly. They said they are going to continue to watch it , there is a possibility that it could still grow or it could stay small. The Doctor said that many people live long lives with one kidney. He also told me that Riley is doing great. He is in the 73% weighing 3lb 2 oz already (this kinda scares me how big is he going to be???, but I am glad he is growing). He also said my fluid levels were great. Dr. Dashow explained everything to me and made me feel so much better, When I left I was feeling ok, still a little scared but more confident that Riley will be ok. I will never go to another appointment alone. I have another ultrasound on July 23rd so I will keep all of you updated. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

New Doctor.
So today I saw my new Doctor. so as of now I have 3, Dr. Olgesby, the perinatologist and my new doctor. Well my regular doctor delivers at Auburn hospital and is moving back to Utah, since I am high risk I need to deliver at TG, so I had to find a new Doctor. My new doctor is Dr. Kovanda and I absolutely love her. She is a great doctor and I have even seen her in action since I work at the birth center. The other cool thing is that she delivered my niece Sierra, my best friend Becky's baby, and my newest little nephew Liam. Hopefully she will be there to deliver Riley. You never know!!!!!!!!!!!! well I told her she would be a legend in our family. So back to the appointment, everything is looking great and Riley is growing like he should, no signs of preterm labor Thank god for that. I have gained 20lbs total which is not bad but shopping is not as fun anymore. oh well. I love being pregnant so it is worth it. I see Dr. Olgesby one more time at the end of the month. I am going to be sad saying goodbye and will miss him very much, He got me through one of the hardest parts of this pregnancy so far and I am very grateful for him. Well more to come................

26 weeks
I am now 26 weeks pregnant. Riley is getting bigger and bigger everyday and so is my belly. I can't believe how much he is moving. my whole belly moves and it is so fun to watch, sometimes he kicks so hard it hurts. Sometimes I think what the heck is he doing in there. And even though his favorite time to move is when I am ready to sleep I love every second of it. Dan can feel him alot better now and see him move which he loves. We wanted to post a new belly shot so here are two. Dan was taking forever taking the picture and my impatience shows in one of the photos. Dan said I had to post this picture so he could share with all of you the face he See's all the time. He is crazy I am always smiling. LOL. well you can also see that I have very beautiful flowers in my arms. Dan came home from work and surprised me with a dozen of pink roses and a very sweet card. I love him so much.

Happy Birthday and good news
Today is my 27th Birthday, wow I am getting old. Well I had a great birthday. We had a follow up ultrasound in the morning and everything is looking great. Riley is about 1 lb 10oz. He is growing like he should and the cyst has not grown or changed in size at all. YEA. we will continue to watch it for the rest of the pregnancy. Dan, my mom and Leslie were all at the appointment which was very nice. After the appointment my sister and brother in law took me to breakfast and then a movie. I had another Doctors appointment in the afternoon and that went good as well. The Doctor said everything is great. Later that evening Dan took me out for a birthday dinner to of coarse my favorite place, Olive garden. By the end of the day I was so tired and I went home and straight to bed. I have to say it was a great birthday I got to see alot of the people I love and those I didn't get to see called, including dad who was the first and who also sang to me. I told him he should quit his job and become a singing telegram.

Rachel and Joe went back to Oklahoma but I can't wait for July because Rachel will be back. She is going to live with her parents for a couple months while Joe goes to school. I am so happy she will be here for the end of my pregnancy and hopefully when Riley is born.

23 weeks
I am 23 weeks this week. I have been back to work for a week now and I am loving it. I am taking it easy when I am at home so still pretty boring but worth it. I know how much I need to take care of myself and baby Riley. Today was a sad day because we had to send Travis back to Iraq. It was so nice having him home. we had a lot of fun the time just went to fast. Travis, Marie, mom and I all went to breakfast in the morning and then I went with Marie to take him to the airport. The airport gave us boarding passes so we could walk him to his gate. We hate the airport and saying goodbye. Only 9 months and he is home for GOOD. Please keep Travis in your thoughts and prayers everyday.

Back to Work
I have been cleared by the doctor to go back to work and as long as I don't have any more contractions I can keep working. It is so nice to be back to work. I love my job and I was starting to become really bored at home. Everything with the pregnancy is NOW going OK. keep your fingers crossed that it will continue that way. I talk to Riley everyday and tell him to be a good boy. So far he is listening to his mommy.
Introducing Baby Riley Joseph Golbeck
We want to share with all of you the name of our baby boy. His name is Riley Joseph Golbeck. Here are some pictures of our last ultrasound. Happy Mother's Day
It was nice waking up and getting a dozen roses and my very first mother's day card from my husband Dan. This was very special to me and made me realize how close I am to being a mother. I also got a sweet card for the "mom to be" from my brother, sister-in-law and niece. Dan and I hung out all morning and in the afternoon dad, mom,Travis, Leslie and Sean came over and we went out to the Rock for dinner. We also celebrated my dad's B-day. we had a great time. My mom had a great mothers day as well especially because Travis was home for Iraq.

Bed Rest
Because of my scary trip to the hospital my Dr. has but me on bed rest. I have been taking it easy since 4/28/08. I just saw the Dr. again the other day and will be taking it easy for one more week, then hopefully I can go back to work. We are just being very cautious because I am only 21.5 weeks pregnant. The contractions have slowed way down but I am still feeling them daily. We are asking everyone to keep us in their thought and prayers.

A Scary Trip to the Hospital
On Monday night I started feeling tightenings in my lower abdomen and called the hospital to find out what to do, They advised me to come in early before work to get checked out. Dan and I went in around 1030 PM. They hooked me up to the monitors and told me I was having contractions. I was so terrified and so was Dan but he was so supportive, The contractions were very close together but the good news was my cervix was not changing. They gave me fluids and sent me home to take it easy. They had no idea what caused the contractions. This was one of the scariest nights ever.

Our Surprise
We had all the family over for our big surprise. Everyone thought the surprise was finding out the sex of the baby but what they didn't know is that the person opening the envelope was Travis(my brother who flew in from Iraq hours before the party). Everyone was so surprised especially my mom, she cried tears of joy. Travis opened the envelope and after describing the picture to him announced that we are having a BOY. We had a great day spending time with the whole family.
